While he appears to be using an old-school method of notation above, three-time Grammy-winning guitar virtuoso, composer, and producer Steve Vai is a long-time Finale user and most recently has been using it to prepare some large symphony projects.

While music notation software and writing for symphonic ensembles may not be covered, you can take a free on-line guitar lesson with Steve on March 3, 2011, at 1:30 pm EST. But you won’t be alone.

Steve and Berkleemusic are attempting to set the Guinness World Record™ for the World’s Largest Online Guitar Lesson. Details surrounding the free lesson, a mechanism to ask Steve questions, and information about Steve’s online guitar course can be found here.

Participate in the free lesson, and then share the experience with us by clicking on “Comments” below.
