Finale 2011 Wins "Music & Sound Award"

Finale Product Specialist Tom Johnson receives “The Music & Sound Award for Best Music Software/Multimedia,”
on behalf of Finale 2011, from Brian Berk, editor of The Music & Sound Retailer.

Last week, while I was shoveling snow, several of my coworkers were in Anaheim, California, for the annual Winter NAMM tradeshow. Makers of musical instruments and music-related products, from more than 100 countries, exhibit their products at NAMM each year. Among the attendees are thousands of representatives from music product retailers from around the world.

The Music & Sound Retailer is a magazine created for this audience, which they refer to as “music instrument and sound product merchandisers.” If you own or operate a music store, you probably subscribe. For 25 years the magazine has conducted annual music and sound awards, highlighting the best products of the year, from the perspective of the folks who sell them.

As it was last year, Finale was again nominated for the “Best Music Software/Multimedia” award. Upon learning of this year's nomination, Diane Hummon, MakeMusic’s senior vice president of marketing commented:

“On behalf of everyone at MakeMusic, I’d like to say how delighted we are that Finale 2011 has been nominated as the Best Music Software/Multimedia Product. We’re very proud of how intuitive, efficient, and flexible Finale has become at putting music on the printed page. It’s great to have these advances recognized.”

Since this award category includes not only music notation software products, but all other software and multimedia products, it’s an honor to simply be nominated.

But it’s even better to win.

On Friday, January 14, Brian Berk, editor of The Music & Sound Retailer, presented MakeMusic’s Tom Johnson with the Music and Sound Award for Best Music Software/Multimedia. On behalf of my colleagues at MakeMusic I’d like to thank Brian, the entire magazine staff, and especially all of the music retailers who voted for us.

Congrats to Finale!  I'm proud to say that I've used Finale for the past 7 years.  I love Finale!  Now can I get some tech support for a snow thrower issue?

Hi Jari,

I love that video. My son is five years old and is just beginning to discover Star Wars. He likes this video too, but now he thinks we should use some CG in our family home videos.

Best wishes,
Scott at MakeMusic

Hi Art,

Thanks for the congrats. My second best snowblower troubleshooting technique is to bring it in the house so it can warm up. My best snowblower troubleshooting technique is to bring it in the neighbor's house so it can warm up. It's better to have his wife hopping mad about the fumes! <g>

Best wishes,

I stopped by the booth on Sunday, gushed a little about how much I liked my new Finale 2011 upgrade, and totally forgot the few questions I had meant to ask. (Note to self - write them down next year! :-0 )

Well done to the MakeMusic team for the well deserved award. Hopefully some of this year's snowbound will get to sunny L.A. next year and I'll see you there. Smile
